I set the rice cooker to white rice if it is a Japanese rice cooker.  It is worth it to get a good Japanese rice cooker.  They just do a better job all around, but you can use any rice cooker.   If you have a lower end one, the water ratios are 1:2 grain to liquid for most grains, and then you just turn it on.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Quinoa
  • 4 cups water or veggie broth
  • or
  • 2 scoops Quinoa
  • Water or broth to the 2 line labeled for white rice + a little more 3 TBSP
  • 1 tsp Himalayan Sea salt optional

Instructions

  1. Add your grain into the rice cooker and rinse with cool water until water gets clearer.
  2. Add water or broth. If you're not sure what you're plan might be to use it for, you might want to just use water. If you know your future plan is savory in personality, broth can be a flavorful option to give it some jazz.
  3. Toss in the salt set the cooker to white rice and hit start on the rice cooker.
  4. On average will be done cooking in around 30 minutes.
  5. Once it's done cooking, wait about 10 minutes and then fluff it with a fork.

Recipe Notes

Rinsing your quinoa gets rid of the tannins that make your quinoa bitter and it will make your quinoa be more digestible.
This is good for making quinoa ahead of time for your week or if you are making it early with no time pressure. However, if you are short of time for dinner, the stove preparation is faster.
